Mentorship Program
Have you ever
wandered why Jesus picked only twelve men to be his disciples? God
in all of His sovereignty and wisdom knew that He would use His
people to change this world. Jesus gave us the example of discipling
a small group in their Christian walk. One of Jesus’ last commands
to us in Matthew 28:19 is to “Go therefore and make disciples of all
nations …” This command was to each of us.
Starting this fall
at WBC, you now have the opportunity to “make disciples” by
mentoring a new believer through his/her daily walk with Jesus. WOW!
What an opportunity. All you have to do is say: “Yes, Lord! Here I
am. Use me.”
Here is how it
works.
A. The mission of
our Mentoring Program:
-
To assist new
believers in becoming aware of the truths of the Word of God and
the gifts that God has given them in an effort to make the
church work as one unit.
-
To assist new
members to learn about Westwood Baptist Church and how they may
serve the church and the community.
-
To assist those
called into a ministry learn how to apply the gifts that God has
given them to succeed in the ministry.
B. The goals of our
program are:
-
To serve God
and man
-
Help those who
have taken on a new role (believer, member, worker) learn about
their new role and how to be successful
-
Create an
environment of fellowship by having more mature Christians teach
those who have taken on new roles.
-
Make the church
a more cohesive unit in an effort to take the Gospel into our
community and grow the church.
Mentors
If you are
interested in becoming a “Mentor” at WBC, please contact the office
for an application form. This form and questionnaire should be
filled out and returned to your deacon as soon as possible. The
deacons will screen the mentor’s form and match them with a new
believer or someone new to a ministry at WBC.
Anyone wishing to
be mentored
If you would like
to have a “mentor” for your daily walk with Jesus or to help you
find your place of service at WBC, please contact the office and
fill out the “mentee” form and return it to the office. The deacons
will screen all applications and try to match mentors with mentees.
Please be in prayer
for this new program as we strive to “make disciples” at WBC. See
Blayne Weeks or Pastor Dave if you have any questions.
